Reminder: NAACP Meet and Greet Holiday Party Tonight

Stuff It Thanksgiving Giveaway

Through November 20th, in partnership with the Champaign Mayor’s office, the Glory Center, Family Video, Meijer, PrimeSol, and Steve Harvey, the NAACP is aiming to put a dent in hunger in our community by collecting bags stuffed with the follow items:

  • Mac-N-Cheese
  • Cereal
  • Rice & beans
  • Canned Fruit
  • Canned Veggies
  • Spaghetti & Spaghetti Sauce
  • Peanut Butter
  • Soup
  • Jell-O
  • Snacks

1 in 4 children in Champaign County encounters hunger.  A new US Census report states that 1 in 3 children in the U.S. is living in poverty.  This is a small drop in the bucket, but definitely a starting place.  Your donations can be dropped off at any of the Champaign or Urbana Family Videos.

The actual giveaway is November 22nd at noon at 606 North Country Fair Drive.  If you are looking for more information or to volunteer, you may call 217-355-5008.

November General Body Meeting This Thursday @ 7:15pm

There’s a lot of exciting things going on with your local NAACP that you need to hear about and invest in!  Join us for our monthly general body meeting and bring a friend!  Your local Champaign County NAACP needs your active participation to be a successful community organization that advocates for the political, educational, social, and economic rights of our community’s minority populations through programs and outreach events.

General Body Meetings are always the 1st Thursday of the month at 7:15pm.

September General Body Meeting This Thursday @ 6pm

Executive Committee Meeting, closed to general public, is at 6pm.
General Body Meeting is at 7pm.

Both meetings take place at the Champaign Public Library in Room 215!
