The NAACP Champaign County Branch’s Education Committee is hosting a Meet and Greet on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at

Due to the recent passing of Rev. Savage we found that it is in the best interest to cancel the Meet and Greet that is scheduled for this Thursday, Feb 24, 2010 until further notice. This is out of respect for Rev. Savage, who was so well respected in this community and also out of respect for his family.

The purpose of this very important Meet and Greet is to invite you as well as encourage you to bring friends to come out and meet our newly elected NAACP Board President, Rev. Troy Burks. Rev. Burks is very anxious to share his vision for the Champaign County Branch with our Community .

If you have questions concerning this event, please contact me. My name is Minnie Pearson and I am the Chairperson of the Education Committee for the Branch. ( MinpearL3@aol.com) .

Refreshments will be served and this event promises to be both fun and very informative. You will also be introduced to all of the other Branch Committee Chairs that evening.

NAACP is a cosponsor of the Community Technology and UC2B – Careers and Jobs forum

The eBlack CU Symposium was a great success, with over 180 people attending or all part of the event. The full record of the Symposium is available online for anyone to access at: http://eblackcu.net/portal/symposium. We need to do more to get people and community organizations able and motivated to take advantage of technological tools to better our local community. This follow-up meeting is being organized around the themes of technology, jobs and the future of our local economy. The title of this event is: “Community Technology and UC2B: Careers, Jobs and the Future of our Local Economy.”

NAACP is a cosponsor of this event and we encourage everyone to attend.

NAACP Champaign County Branch Elections

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

On November 18, 2010, the election of officers and at-large Members of the Executive Committee will take place at Champaign Public Main Library, Friends Conference Room 215. Polls will open from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

In order to vote in a Branch election, one must be a member in a good standing of the Branch 30 days prior to the election. A form of identification is required.
