2014 Freedom Fund Award Nominations Now Open!

We are doing things a little differently this year with our freedom Fund Awards. We are letting You, the community, nominate people you believe should receive the award.
This year we will be honoring individuals/organizations in the following four categories:
- Interfaith Community Service Award – Address social justice and equity for the community at large. The individual or group benefits the entire Champaign County Area
- “Yes We Can” Education Award – To an individual or group that recognizes education as an advancement and improves the quality of equity, diversity, and the access of education.
- Media Award – Media Source that looks at issues of social justice and promotes diversity in content as well as information that empowers underrepresented communities.
- Freedom Fighter Award – Represents the underrepresented voice for Social Change and Social Justice. They must value diversity not only at work but overall lifestyle.
All Freedom Fund Award recipients will be recognized at the 2014 Freedom Fund Banquet on October 17, 2014 at the Hawthorne Suites.
Nominations are accepted for all Champaign County Individuals who demonstrate the virtues of one of the categories. Self-nominations will be accepted. Nomination essay and a picture of the nominee are required with each Nomination Form. Each honoree will receive a complimentary ticket to the 2014 Freedom Fund Banquet.
Eligible nominees: 1. Must be a resident of Champaign County. 2. Must exemplify the character of one of the award categories. No Members of the NAACP Champaign County Executive Committee may be nominated.
Completed nomination forms, photo and essay must be submitted together and mailed directly to: NAACP Champiagn County, P.O. Box 403, Champaign, IL 61824. All submissions due by September 1, 2014. Electronic submissions will be accepted and must be received by the due date. You may also submit your nomination online at naacpcc.org/freedomfund/nomination.
