The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper
Choir will perform in a Black History Month Concert on Friday, February
22, in the Lobby of The Krannert Center For the Performing Arts, 500 S.
Goodwin, Urbana. The program begins at 12:00 Noon and there is no
admission charge.

The Choir is directed by Dr. Michael J. Bates, an alum
of UIUC’s School of Music. The repertoire will consist of a diversified
program of Classical, Baroque, formal Spirituals(including two works dedicated to
the contributions of James Weldon Johnson and Martin Luther King); traditional and
contemporary Gospel Music.

Feel free to bring your lunch and enjoy one our best
Historically Black College Choirs. Some of the school’s alums are Dr.
Larine Cowan, Dr. Mildred Griggs,retired dean of the College of Education,
Willie T. Summerville and others.
