Last week the local NAACP branch participated in the Urbana School District Civil Right Summer Institute.

Distinguished Speakers included Patricia Sullivan (writer of book on the history of the NAACP),  Ilyasah Shabazz (daughter of Malcolm X), Barry Bradford (former natl. teacher of the year who became famous when he & 3 students helped to bring down the KKK leader),  Ilyasah Shabazz (daughter of Malcolm X), Bobby Seale (former Black Panther Party leader) and Julian Bond (former chairman of the NAACP)
