NAACP Champaign County calls meeting with Chief of Police concerning recent gun violence
In light of the recent shootings in our community the NAACP has called a meeting with our Chief of Police in Champaign and other City Officials. We will be meeting with them later this week.
Some members of our community have interesting ideas on how we can address this issue of gun violence. Some of these ideas are worth listening to and exploring. As a community we must do something to curve the violence and standing by is not an option.
Anyone interested in joining our efforts to keep the peace and put an end to this senseless violence should leave a message on our website or Facebook page with their contact information.
FYI..as a reminder. Last month when the 26 year old Allen Redding was shot and killed we organized a peace walk with Jericho Missionary Baptist Church. At that march Pastor Johnson pledged to walk every 4th Wednesday. Well, tomorrow is the 4th Wednesday and we will walk again in Garden Hills beginning at 6:30 at Jericho! Please join us!
